Bankruptcy Court
A bankruptcy court is usually the term used when referring to the legal proceedings that accompany a bankruptcy-filing petition. When a debtor presents a bankruptcy petition, then the court makes a bankruptcy order. Alternately, a creditor who is owed more than £750 can also present the petition. The bankruptcy court charges you, the debtor a fee of 120 but may waive this fee under special circumstances, for example, if you are on income support.
Usually, a bankruptcy petition is presented at either the High Court in London or at a country court near where you live or work.
